  1. When first seeing this image, i found it to be weird. I can see that there are a lot of things going on, but my eyes first went to the dark skin guy. The fact that the dark skin guy is basically naked and have a fish head, indicates to me that he has been stripped of his identity. Unlike the white people that have clothes and technology, indicating money. The white male seems to really be enjoying whatever is in his laptop. I can't tell what that circular orange and yellow light is, but it is connected to the computer which could indicate that whenever we turn a technology on, we get sucked in and we don't even pay attention to whats going on around us or next to us. The white female is reading a book which can also suck her in, into another world regarding the story of the book and separate her from her real world and whats going on in it. This image shows us how society only cares about what they are up too and not whats going on around them even if its right in front of them or next to them.

  2. When I saw this picture I thought it was awkward.I had difficulties in understanding it. This picture is kind of complex since there is a colored man naked with half of a fish in his head, a white women in the middle reading a book and a white man looking at his laptop and he seem amazed of what he is able to see in his computer. However, I was able to come with a solid conclusion. These three people are seating close to each and there is no form of communication between them. Each of them were in they own world. In other words, people are losing interest in getting to know other people that are just one inch away from them.

  3. This is really a complex image. When I saw this image I thought that the naked dark skin man doesn't belong in that picture. That is why I believe he is like a fish out of water. Eventhough they are in the same room, each of them is in their own world. But it seems that the naked man is more distant than the other two white old people. The old white people each has technology while the naked man doesn't. Even if the white lady is reading a book, she has a bluetooth in her ear and the old white man has a computer. Meaning that they can escape reality while he is concentrated looking outside longing for something. Emotion also is part of this image, the naked man is sad, the white lady is concentrated and the white male is really excited. Which shows that technology in this society complete people.

  4. My reaction to this picture is a bitter laugh because there is a naked guy with a fish head on and the older people arent even paying attention to it. I feel that this human with the fish head is excluding himself out of the real world because reality is paying no mind to him. I feel like hes searching for attention and is showing that your're surroundings are so into the technology that they dont communicate with one another. The two older people have the newest technology out and are showing that theyre so zoned into what theyre doing that they dont even see anyone besides what theyre using. It shows that people are being less interactive in person, and using technology as an excuse.

  5. At first sight of this image i was pretty surprised and it took me a little time to sort of see whats going on there. Once i looked at the title "Welcome to the Fish People" it became clear. In the beginning it seems that the dark skinned man with a fish head is the outcast and peculiar one of the group. In the title it says to the fish people not welcome the fish people. So from that i think that the two white beings on the train are the ones who are outcasts. Also if you look closely the dark man is holding an object that looks like a native american hat of some sort. If you know you're history it was the white man that was an outcast when they came to the Americas the land that was first owned by the Native Americans.

  7. When my partner Lauren and I first looked at this image it brought a lot of perplexity. The man wearing a fish head causing himself to stand out the most allowed us to pay him attention and figure the purpose of the muscular body and the irregular use of the fish head. We tried to define the purpose of him wearing a fish head by saying the artist is trying to infer an animalistic view amongst the muscular man. The image might have been drawn or painted during enslavement times. We stated the three seem to be on a train heading somewhere therefore we assumed the two elder individuals may be from a wealthy class because they both carry a modern electronic device. I think the general moral perception of this image is trying to interpret the way African American were perceived during slavery. They were often compared to animals and were treated like one's throughout their enslavement so that may justify why the dark skin individual is wearing a fish head as oppose as to the other elder people whom are white.

  8. Nairobe Torres, I like the thought of your comment when stated "Being that he was naked, he was striped from his identity"... that is something the artist may be trying to pursue through this painting.

  9. First reaction to this image is that it seems so random. Three people, including the fish man, traveling on what seems to be a train. One thing that does strike me is that they are sitting in order of progression. The first, the fish man sitting unclothed represents the primitive era. He is metaphorically and literally naked. The second woman represents our era. She represents the 21st century with her Bluetooth and book. The third represents the future, the technology that is to come. I think it shows that as the eras progress we lose more and more of the real world around us.

  10. C My reaction to this image is a bit of scare and then I laugh out loud. And the other two people kind of have no reaction to the one who is looking different from thescare of. them, they did not scare or even supplies that the fish man sit next to them. And what is the old man laughing at. It seems three people, including the fish man are on the train and traveling to somewhere. But the fish man did not wear clothes and he looked not happy. It represented the different period of era, which are the old one that people dont have clothes and work hard or even as a salve. The others looked happy, enjoy, and play the technologyg. They seem at the exactly time period that where we live now. Comparing the fish man and two old people, it could tell the different between different time period. People in the past lived with pain, without happiness and also in worry; but now people dont have much to worry and they are relaxing, enjoying, and happy.
